This tour was a wonderful look into the hands on labor that loving goes into making each of these genuine artisanal products from this region. What a treat to see the process and taste the results. So much information! Our tour guide Roberta was fantastic in keeping us on schedule and communicating the processes with us. The transport van was comfortable. Meeting place was easy to locate. Lunch was so yummy in a great relaxed atmosphere. The tour was definitely was one to remember in our 2 weeks in Italy.

My wife and I recently went on the tasty bus with our tour guide Lisa! The day was amazing and she was great! Not only was it fun, it was very educational and of course very tasty! Lisa was great and really made the day for us! We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Parma.

We took the full day tour of Parma with Lisa. Everything about the tour was perfect! The venues had been carefully selected to ensure we received a private tour experience. Lisa showed her expertise in being able to explain all the steps in the process of making Parmesan cheese, Parma ham, and balsamic vinegar. The driver was also very good. All in all, a very good day's tour and highly recommended!

What a great experience. I had an amazing time, so informative. We booked the half day tour as we are pressed for time. so we didn’t have lunch or do the vinegar part of the tour. We now regret missing this part of the tour. When you see how much work and care is is taken in making the cheese and the ham it is very impressive.

This was a fun and interesting tour and gave us the opportunity to see more of the beautiful countryside of Italy. Our tour guide was very informative and talkative and the bus was airconditioned, clean and comfortable. The cheese we were able to purchase was very reasonably priced and for sure we bought some. At the end of the tour we enjoyed a light dish of prosciutto, bread and wine that was wonderful. I would definitely recommend.

The insight into the processes was spectacular. That each place is family run and the owners engage with the group added to the experience. More important for me, though, is that although I've loved all three of these products for years, I now love them even more and know better how to use and enjoy them. The trip through the countryside and the spectacular lunch were just bonuses! Don't miss this one.

Tour was excellent. I found the flyer in our Hotel Grand de la Ville, Parma. Made the booking two days ahead online. I texted Rossella because I was having difficult finding open spots, she reached back right away...On a Sunday.
I would always recommend this guys, to our clients from and colleagues. Giacomo is fantastic, any language. I did a half tour. from 9:30-2:00. I missed the lunch and the balsamic Vinegar making.

We had a fun day touring through beautiful countryside in a comfortable bus to visit producers of famous Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Parma ham and traditional balsamic vinegar. We learned a lot and had a chance to taste everything. We stopped for lunch at a pleasant restaurant on a hillside along the way, where we enjoyed some Lambrusco and Malvasia wines along with the local dishes.

Our guide, Giacomo Cacciatore, was excellent, friendly and very well informed of the processes of the producers and history the region. Everything was done efficiently, on-time and professionally.

The bus tour is the best way to visit facilities of the three most famous culinary products the area of Parma is known for. Our guide was excellent, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. We now have a better appreciation of how these products are made and taste. We are thankful that the facility operators opened to the tour. In addition the lunch at the osteria was delightful . Make sure you go on the full day tour otherwise you will miss the lunch and vinegar facility. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who appreciates the real Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma ham and balsamic vinegar.

This was a small tour bus and group which gave us more time with our guide and at the sites to ask questions and have lots of time to take everything in. My wife and I were travelling to Europe together for the first time, and only had four days to enjoy a slice of northern Italy.

We are so glad that we chose Parma (and the Emilia-Romagna region), and very glad that we chose Maestro tours!

We opted for the full-day tour, and it was a very good experience. It ranked order, our favorite experiences were:
1. Parmigiano Reggiano
2. Balsamic Vinegar
3. Lunch
4. Prosciutto di Parma (the ham was wonderful, but it was a bit...different...being in large rooms filled with pig legs! Definitely a memorable experience, though)

On our tour in late October, we were on a small bus with ~15 people for the two morning tours, and 7 people for the afternoon tour.
Our tour guide Elisa (one of the founders of Maestro) was excellent.

The tours were all punctual, well organized, informative, and very enjoyable. It was fun being on a tour with individuals from all around the world! (US, Canada, Spain, Sweden, etc.).
Yes, it was a "touristy" experience...but that was kind of the point. An excellent way to see many highlights in a relatively intimate, small group environment. And not having to worry about any of the logistics definitely makes the experience more relaxing!

I would highly recommend the tour.

If you have a rental car, I would also HIGHLY recommend taking a few hours just drive up into the foothills south of Parma and just enjoy driving through some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever experienced. It definitely meets/exceeds the beauty of California wine country!

Wonderful locations, very educational tours, terrific guide (fluent in English) and responsive to all questions, and great tastings. I can't think of anything missing from this half-day tour. It was great. I would definitely recommend it. Well worth the money.

This tour was a highlight of my trip to Emilia Romagna. It was more in-depth than I thought it would be - we got to see every aspect of the making of parmagiano reggiano, prosciutto and balsamico, and meet the producers. Explanations were thorough and interesting.

This was phenomenal tour from the start to finish! Very organize, very informative and an unforgettable experience. I decided to add the balsamic tour and I have no regrets it was best part of the tour!. Elisa, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very passionate in keeping the group engaged at all times. The greatest part of this tour is that you are taken to three artisanal factory, two of which are family owned and operated.

It was a fabulous tour of the Parmesano Reggiano factory. Parma ham was ok. I would have preferred the balsamic factory tour for the half day tour.

Robert was our guide for the day. She did a fantastic job along with our bus driver. We did have some difficulty getting to our first location as there was a marathon in Parma that day. Our bus driver did lots of extra driving and negotiating with the local police who had road blocks up for the marathon. Being an American I did not think about there being nothing in production at the ham factory on a Sunday.. We did tour the factory with a behind the scenes look but there were no employees to watch. The employees at the ham factory only work Monday-Friday. Lunch a the local restaurant was good. We got to try several different foods. the tastings at the parmesan cheese factory, Parma ham factory and balsamic vinegar production facility were wonderful. By the time we arrived back at our drop off point, there was no need for dinner! If you have a chance to do this while in the Parma area, I would highly recommend it. Ask if Rebecca can be your guide. She does a wonderful job!!

Altrimenti per visitare un caseificio bisogna provvedere in proprio al trasporto e in qualche caso anche alla guida. Si può prenotare direttamente tramite il sito dell'agenzia che è più conveniente perché non ci sono le commissioni. What a fabulous day out in Italy. The meeting point was easy to find and the guide was lovely and informative. All stops were thoroughly enjoyable and informative. I did the whole day trip and the lunch at the restaurant was delicious and such good fun. I was a single traveller and doing this tour was the perfect way to see and taste all the region has to offer.

We did the Parma half day tour and loved it, was a highlight of our stay in this region! We caught a train from Bologna to do so, and was an easy 15 min flat walk to the meeting point. Very easy to book, and they delivered exactly what was promised! We had a nice small group on an air conditioned bus and there were plenty of samples of cheese and Parma ham to go around, plus wine! Our guide was very informative and was fantastic to go inside both production factories and see all elements of the cheese and ham making process. Having a half day allowed enough time to enjoy both locations but also then allowed us to explore Parma city area in the afternoon. Would recommend!

This was an excellent tour, I highly recommend it. We first toured the parmigiano reggiano factory, then the prosciutto factory, then had a lovely lunch followed by the visit to the maker of balsamic. All in all, it was phenomenal. Our tour guide was incredibly informative and spunky and fun to be around. The lunch was fantastic and authentic, in a great spot that we never would have made it to otherwise. Watching the cheese, ham, and balsamic processes was fascinating. We also got to buy all of the goods, which we loved.

The main reason I chose Tastybus was because they assemble a relatively small group AND they include the transportation to each location. Many other agencies in the area require that you rent a car and follow the group like a caravan. And since I was travelling by myself, this was the perfect fit for me.

The only difficulty I had was in finding them online, but since you are reading this I presume that is not your case.
Luckily I got the recommendation from a local person who kindly suggested this tour.
The booking was really easy and the meeting point is really centric. The bus was in excellent conditions and you can leave your bag in the bus during the visit.

At each location you get the chance to buy the products and if you want to know an average price before you get there, you can ask Maestro and they will gladly help you out with it. If I'm not mistaken, you can also pay with credit card at every location. The cheese and the ham both are sold in vacuum sealed bags so you don't have to worry about any luggage restrictions.

Our guide Elena was really good and very concerned that we all understood each process. If someone didn't understood something, she will try to explain it in a different way in order for us to catch the idea. And the more relevant questions you have, the more knowledge you can take from this tour.

If you book the full day tour as I did, you get to have lunch at a nice restaurant where the owners constantly make sure that everything is in order.

And just wait until you try the balsamic vinegar, be prepared to be amazed.

Fantastic.....from start to finish. Guide was insightful and passionate about the sites visited. Transportation was great. Food was great. Clearly the proprietors of both the cheese and ham locations were welcoming to her and the group. This tour and city of Parma in general were one of the best activities during our stay in Italy.

We took the tour on Friday April 5 with four other people for a total of six. We were glad to have a smaller group as that made the tour more intimate! I loved our tour guide Elisa as she was funny and informative the whole trip, even on the drive back. We enjoyed the cheese stop the most and were glad to bring back some in our suitcases! I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn about cheese and parma ham when they are in Parma!

The TastyBus full-day tour from Parma was wonderful. I had heard there were no tours to food factories available and was delighted to find one starting from Parma that included visits to producers of parmigiano reggiano, prosciutto di parma, and aceto balsamico tradizionale, and at such a reasonable price.

The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging about the historical development of the products and about the actual processes as we toured the locations. At each location we enjoyed samples of the various products and of various ages. I learned so much about these products and enjoyed the ride through the hills and valleys to each location. Lunch was at a lovely countryside restaurant where we enjoyed a multi-course meal finishing with an apple and pear tart still warm from the oven.

On another note: The Maestro Travel website mentions guaranteed departures and I can attest that this is true. I visited in early March and was surprised to discover that I was the only person who had registered for the tour that day. The tour took place, even with just one person. So for me this turned out to be a totally private tour, but this would not be the case in busier seasons.

I highly recommend this tour.

The parmigiano-reggiano cheese and parma ham factory tours were AMAZING! The tour guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about everything and the whole experience was simply fantastic. The tastings were also out of this world! HIGHLY recommend.

Since it was December, this was low season and we had a small group of 5. Our guide was fantastic and it showed in her passion for the subject. We took the half day tour for the cheese and ham. Los lugares de los productores locales que se recorren son muy amables y te dan una visita completa con degustación de cada producto. Five stars for everything !

I am an avid traveler. I like reviews that point out the plusses and minuses. It gives each reader a clearer picture of what to expect and the owners a chance to make changes, if needed.

The only gliches we had were BEFORE the tour. We received 2 vouchers by email, both with my name on them, so I questioned the office and was told that they were correct, with no explanation. After going back and forth a few times, they said the BAR CODE is different on each. Ah ha:) I told them that this explanation was important when emailing the vouchers. It avoids unnecessary further emails.

We arrived at the tourist office in Parma at 9:20A for a 9:30A departure. A woman was on the phone outside with us, about 15' away, and didn't acknowledge us (we had our paperwork out)...she walked toward her car about 50' away from us, at 9:30, still on the phone. We wondered if she were our guide. We finally asked the tourist office and they said SHE was our guide. Ok...that was weird. Anyway, after we connected, things went MUCH BETTER. She explained that the tourist office misplaced her flag. She apologized and said she would make sure our experiences didn't happen again and I believe her! Sharp gal and very into making the tour a great one.

Elisa, our guide and owner, was so incredibly knowledgeable. She not only knows each of the steps of cheese, ham and balsamic vinegar making, but she understands the science behind each step. I felt as though I could make them at home after spending the day with her. She truly is amazing. She grew up on a farm and took courses on food scientce in college, so she's really well prepared. I won't go into the details of the tour itself. The pictures and explanations are enough. You need some surprises.

I might add, it's also VERY RARE to find a driver/guide in Parma. You have to buy your tour with guide and then pay for a driver/car separately (or rent your own car and YOU drive), to the tune of about E185 PP. We paid about E95 PP, a much better value. Our guide has both licenses and, as far as I know, Maestro is the only tour company in PARMA to have guides with both. They are way ahead of the curve and we felt lucky to have found them.

After touring a while, I asked her about her company..... and the story behind what they did to get started and the ways they are choosing to expand is really fascinating. They are filling niches wherever they find them....clever gals, and they work very hard for their fees. I believe they have only been in business about 4 years. They are doing amazingly well for such a short time.

We had only THREE people in our November trip, hence the private car, instead of the small Tasty Bus. We lost our 3rd person after a half day. The guide drove her back to Parma (no explanation to us except that she would return) at lunch time. We found out that the other gal was taking their COOKING TOUR later that day.

We had a delightful lunch in a simple place in a small town. Where we were, this was a typical restaurant... The service was truly amazing. Such nice, friendly, attentive and kind staff. The owner spoke English.

I could go on about this trip. The rest of the tour was PRIVATE with just our party of 2. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who really wants to get to know the smaller producers and how they do their work. Truly fascinating. I don't think we could have chosen a better company/guide than Elisa and Maestro to show us around. Thanks to the entire team....you have a winner!

I loved this experience. The guide I extremely passionate and knowledgable and to be able to see the cultural, geographical and regional context in which the making of these bueautiful products is achieved was a wonderful experience. And you also get to taste it all! The countryside is an absolute plus for those also interested in photography.

One of our best days in Italy. The guide was great and her English very good. She has a real passion for talking about Parma area products and traditions, especially Balsamic nectar. "Don't call it Vinegar.".

Excellent tour

This was a great half day tour of a small independently owned Parma cheese producer, Paolo.
It was great learning about behind the scenes of this fantastic and delicious product.
It is really important to learn where your food comes from, and the people that create it.

The Parma ham tour was also great for the same reasons.
Both companies provided samples to traste with wine. The people were friendly and our tour guide , I’m sorry I don’t remember her name , but she was an owner if the company too. She was really entertaining and full of knowledge to impart to us tourists, making it a wonderful and educational day!

I don't understand Italian!

The tour was excellent and our guide Eliza was extremely knowledgeable about the production of parma ham, parmigiano reggiano and traditionale balsamic. Very easy booking process and great value. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a tour around Modena or Parma.

The tastings were great especially the balsamic vinegar and the Parmesan stop. The guide was very helpful but sometimes difficult to hear/understand. I would do this tour again.

My husband and I took this tour a few weeks ago, on Oct.2 We really enjoyed it. I am glad that the tour was on a roomy vehicle, with comfortable seats. The tour leaves from Piazza Garibaldi which was really convenient. If you have a car, you can park at the nearby Barilla Center, a shopping complex (pay for parking), and then there are several buses that go directly down the main road to the piazza within just a few minutes, or you can easily walk the distance, it's all level ground with nice wide sidewalks. We loved seeing the process of making prosciutto di Parma and Parmesan in all its steps. I forget the guide's name, but she was really knowledgeable and passionate about the area and the food producers. The tour included generous samples - so delicious!. It was well organized, well paced, and very insightful. Highly recommended.

I did the full day tour, finishing at 4.30 (not too late). It was very well organised - the selection of small family businesses was really good; the tour guide was very knowledgeable; there was no waiting around but plenty of time for photos etc. There was a light lunch, but we had plenty of tastings at each visit - cheese, ham, balsamic.
I thought this tour was value for money.

We very much enjoyed our half day touring and tasting experience to a Parmigiano Reggiano fromagerie and Prosciutto di Parma factory. We only wish that we could have made the time for the locavore luncheon and the third stop at the Balsamico di Modena operation. I would recommend the full day tour to anyone visiting Parma.

The Parma cheese factory was ok, the Parma ham factory was super.
Also the lunch was very good, but most impressed experience was the visit to Marco Picci from the Balsamico.
It was really amazing and recommended.
Never taste Balsamico as we did by Marco.

We liked it very much, only minus : the starting time. You can choose half a day (Cheese + Ham) or whole day (Cheese, ham, lunch, Balsamico). But all is on same bus. Therefore we had to start at 9:30 in the morning. This is very early for people like us, coming from Bologna (had to leave there before 7 am). We were 20 people on the bus, of which at least 7 persons (older people) came from Bologna and had exactly the same remark. Of the 20 people that were on the bus only 4 people booked the whole day. So the majority, 16 persons, booked only half the day. It would be MUCH BETTER to offer half a day SEPERATELY at a later starting hour. I think it is worthwhile to consider this. In Bologna you can only book a trip : cheese-parma-balsamico-Ferrari-dinner. This is rather expensive (153€ per person), and in fact too much for one day. Many people prefer your shorter excursion (at a more democratic price). The excursion itself is perfect.

The leader was great. Enjoyed the wineries. Very cost effective way to see some great wine areas and taste some very fine wine.

We participated the half day tour that took us to the cheese and ham factory. We thought the cheese factory would be a much bigger scale where we can see the whole process from step one to the last. Most importantly, to try out some of the steps. But we only see the final step that the cheese was picked up from the bucket and ready for hang dry. The rest of the tour is to see what is already there.

We visited the ham factory at noon, so all the production process stopped for lunch break. We did not get to see any of the production process, but only the hams at each stage and listening the tour guide to explain the steps.

Overall, it was interesting to see inside the factory and "hear" the production process, but wasn't worth the money of 60 euro each. They did try to provide prosecco and bread sticks after each tour.

I wanted to visit a cheese and ham factory in Parma and found Tastybus as a great choice as they have a very reasonable price, they organize these two tours in a one 4-hour-long session (not too short, not too long) and the tour started not early in the morning as many other tours but at 9:30 only which is a high plus for those like me who are not staying in Parma itself or not even in the very close neighborhood. The bus arrived on time and our guide spoke wonderful English, had a great sense of humor and was really enthusiastic to tell everything we need to know. She was very knowledgeable, too and could answer all of our questions. The factories were interesting and great places to take some funny pictures. The tastings at the end of the tours were also great, we got more type and more amount of food/drink we expected.

Great guide and fantastic food producers visited. Highly recommended.

The bus waited for us and helped us navigate to them as we were not familiar with the city. The bus ride to the facilities had beautiful scenery and the factories were eye-opening, especially the tall stacks of cheese wheels! I was sitting in the back of the bus so it was a bit difficult to hear what the host was explaining about the cheese making and ham making processes. However, the experience with my daughter was priceless!

This tour took us to the countryside of Parma where we were introduced to the production processes of Parmaggiano Reggiano cheese, Parma prosciutto, and balsamic vinegar. All three stops were very interesting and educational. Who knew how complex a process to create such tasty delights? Included in the full day excursion was a "light" lunch that wasn't so light - filling and delicious! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and our driver was professional, keeping us safe on the windy, but beautiful, back roads. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Parma

Definitely do the full day tour if you have the time! We enjoyed a nice lunch after the half day tour headed back, and the balsamic maker was definitely worth the extra time! The Parmesan and prosciutto experiences were excellent as well. Tasty bus is a fitting name!

We enjoyed seeing how the cheese was made at a larger factory; we had been to a smaller family run establishment, so it was great to see the differences.
And... it is wonderful cheese!

I took the half day tour in which we visited two production facilities outside Parma-- one for parmigiano reggiano and the other for Parma hams. Monica was our excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable about the products and provided many interesting details. We even learned a little history. The staff at both family run businesses were welcoming. Prices in the on site shops were great, lower than anything you would buy in town. The tastings at both stops were GENEROUS, and the Tastybus lived up to its name... everything was very tasty! The van is comfortable, with air conditioning, and our driver (Stellig) was nice. My only regret at the end of the tour was that I had not taken the full day tour instead of the half day.

The only complaint is the sound system was very poor. It was difficult to impossible at times to understand the guide in the bus. It was not much better off the bus.

Excellent excursion, the lady guide was lovely with a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable which made the trip a lot of fun, we learnt a lot and are so pleased we booked the excursion.

Sites visited (parma ham, parma regiano cheese and balsamic vinegar) are selected off the beaten and commercial paths. All places visited are family owned and in nice rural areas.

TastyBus was a highlight of our time in Parma. We got lots of wonderful information about the region and culinary traditions. The tour was well organized and we received good explanations about the local products and agriculture. The tasting offered was more then enough and there were left overs on the cheese factory after everyone ate a lot and drank sparkling wine... The ham was also very good but more types of ham could be offered during tasting...I recommend the tour and advise to sign up for it at least one day before the tour. I signed up hours before the tour and was lucky that I received an email reply confirming the possibility to pay just before the event because the site doesn’t let you pay on the day of the tour (at least in my case, maybe because the tour was at 09:00). Go have fun!

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend the full day tour. The balsamic part of the tour was actually my favourite so it would have been disappointing to miss this part which would have happened if I only booked the half day tour. I did think this was a little on the expensive side compared to other similar tours I've done.

This was a most satisying, interesting and fun tour. Giacomo was a guide with personality and the right friendly character for such a job. Best was that we went to smaller companies and not huge impersonal ones. The information was excellent and not too long winded either. I recommend the full day having lunch and also seeing the accredited and small owner of balsamic vinegar as well. Really worth every penny.

We had the half-day experiance, the cheese was the best. The guide was very good and the ham smell was very intense. The cheese tasting was the best and more variation than the ham.
The starting point in the middle of Parma is nice but not that convenient for people who have to drive in.

This is a tour in a minibus so a nice small group. I did the all day foor tour that included visiting producers of Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma Ham and Balsamic vinegar. They were all out of town with a good tour guid that spoke great English. There was plenty ot taste after each of the three tours where we were able to speak to the producers. They also supplied sparkling wine to assist the tasting.
Lunch was nice iof a little small.

It was an amazing day! There was a lot to see and to learn about cheese, ham and balsamico. The tour leader had a lot of knowledge and was also very kind. The lunch was really good and very Italian. We would recommend this tour to everybody!

The tour was fine, well organized and the tasting was good. The guide's English was difficult to understand and she very often had to say "I don't know" when asked questions. The explanations of the different production processes were also difficult to follow - and made much more sense after reading a detailed explanation online afterwards.

Thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone! Best day of our Italian holidays.

The Tasty Bus experience was absolutely wonderful. We did the full day tour with lunch and each place visited was small and family run making the experience even more authentic. The food was fantastic at all places. Our tour guide, one of the owners, was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about all and spoke great English. She even recommended a restaurant in Parma for dinner which made the full day complete.

Don’t be a dumb tourist like me. We came from Florence, so we were late. The bus has to roll st 10:40, so we had to taxi to the cheese factory for about 25 Euro. AI highly recommend you are already staying in the area. lso we made the mistake of meeting at the office and not the town square. I recommend this tour if you have a love for Parmesan cheese and Prociutto ham. This tour will probably be boring for teens and under unless they are mature enough to have an appreciation of the work involved to make these great foods. Our tour guide had a thick Italian accent, but it was no problem.

This tour was easy to book and very professionally run. The production facilities were carefully chosen and welcoming to visitors, providing tasting, wine, and the option to purchase products. Our guide was fantastic with strong English. I was tentative about the bus ride, but it was comfortable and our guide imparted knowledge as we rode along. I strongly recommend the full day tour. The lunch was delightful and you don't want to miss the balsamic vinegar production facility.

Overall a great experience in seeing the production of the local foods. Our guide was very knowledgeable about production processes for everything and made the visits enjoyable.
The day-tour is not cheap and thus our expectations for the program were high. We felt that the tour did not quite deliver value to meet our expectations. The ham tasting was quite limited, with only 2 cuts served with no options to try more, likewise no-one from the producer joined to explain company history or processes. Lunch was disappointing, rather limited and you needed to pay for additional wine beyond the first glass. Again, at the price for the tour, we would have expected more. The cheese and particularly the balsamico visits and tastings were great with introduction/participation by the owner.
This being said, it was a super interesting insight into the making of these iconic products, and would recommend the tour..and recommend tastybus to improve on the areas where they were falling a bit short to get ***** everywhere.

Our guide was very talented and very easy to understand. She was funny and in a good mood. She answered all our questions. The trip was interesting and I learned a lot. We booked it through the tourist information in Parma and it was very easy. I would recommend this.

We looked at various offers from foodie guides in the Parma/Modena area and as we didn't start looking until the day before it was not easy. The tourist centre in Parma was VERY helpful and the trip was more than we could have hoped for. Very generous tasting in interesting visits that gave us a good drive out into the region.
